Festival of Lights looks terrific

We were fortunate to attend a launch event for this year's Festival of Lights at Longleat - and it's as good as ever!  The Festival is the largest of its type in Europe, and combined with a visit to the Safari Park and the other attractions at Longleat it's a great day (and evening) out.  Each year the theme changes, and this year it is Fairy Tales.  In addition to all the giant lantern displays, the large Christmas tree in the courtyard has an illuminated story playing with additional images projected onto the courtyard walls.

Also worth visiting is the owl display inside the Long Barn.  We saw a barn owl, a tawny owl and a massive eagle owl flying at very close quarters, literally just a few feet away.

Some of the weekend dates for the Festival of Lights have already sold out, but midweek availability in particular is good through December (and it's the same for us here at Moorleaze, so if you are thinking of coming better book soon...)
